Bullet flat shade / 150 / brass is made by heating heavy cast brass to 1200-1300 degrees and cooling it in the mold. The cast creates small bumps in the surface that are carefully polished for a smooth finish. The unique black finish is achieved through a traditional Takaoka metal casting technique of repeatedly heating and coloring using a o-haguro solution, made from sake, vinegar, iron rust, etc. A unique finish handmade by skilled Japanese craftsmen. The 150mm this shade looks like it floats in the air when the bulb is lit.
