Bullet round shade / brass is made by heating heavy cast brass to 1200-1300 degrees and cooling it in the mold. The cast creates small bumps in the surface that are carefully polished for a smooth finish. The non-coated brass will age and patina beautifully over time. The bowl-shaped shade cuts the light from spreading sideways, focusing it downward.
